Flughafen Tempelhof

Finally, the air traffic is gone. Berlin-Tempelhof was decomissioned a couple of years ago. A noisy, stinking airport really has no place in the middle of a metropolis, even if it's as steeped in history as Tempelhof. So the grounds were released as a public park, and now all sorts of people, and plants and animals romp around the landscape, people soaking up sun, taking walks, cycling on the landing strip, flying kites, or even sailing in three wheeled sail-buggies. Something lively and beautiful has developed here.

Alas, once again all is threatened, as this piece of land has been allocated to the 2017 Bundesgartenschau horticultural fair, which will become a permanent fixture. When will the bulldozers begin work?
