Tommy-Weisbecker-Haus

The Tommy-Weisbecker-Haus began as a squat in 1973 and has been an autonomous living collective since. It is a refuge for troubled youths and the homeless; a venue for cultural events and concerts; and the Café Linie 1. It has status as a non-profit, and before the newer age of neo-liberalism, even received State funding. Pretty good for an anarchist collective! Its beginnings did see police raids, and confrontations with the Senat. But it still thrives today.

The most visible aspect of the house are the huge murals by Andreas Dornbusch, which were finished in 1989. They have since become a bit of a tourist attraction.
