More information

La Grande Mosquée de Paris was designed by three Frensh architects, Robert Fournez, Maurice Mantout and Charles Heubès and built from 1922 to 1926 by Arab craftsmen. It was financed by the French government as a gift to the Muslim community in appreciation for North African assistance during World War I. The architecture is in the magnificent Mudéjar style, that is, in the moorish style of Al-Andalus. A major renovation was completed in 1992. Another is currently under way, so that only one of the courtyards could be photographed without hinderance.
