Stella and Bill Wait for Frank

Meanwhile, Bill had arrived by the snowfield and tested a route up - but it too was at the angle of repose, tricky and dangerous. Bill and Stella, who had already done more than she wanted to on the first day anyway, decide to wait for Frank.

Frank meanwhile, is off on his next adventure. Rather than climb out of the rockslide trough, he followed the bottom of a crevass towards where the others were waiting. But already a hundred feet into it, the floor wasn't rising - in fact, it got increasingly difficult to bridge the gaps between boulders, which were piled up from deep within the crack, which was maybe three meters across. The wall on the uphill side was a steep cliff face, that on the left a pile of talus, which Frank climbed up, and wound up on the crest of a narrow ridge.
