The flat section didn't exist. I rounded a bend, and there it was before me: The Pass! There was Stella with the camera, shouting "Allez! Allez!" Had I known a while ago, I might have pushed harder, expecting to be nearing the end. But then, I hadn't been able to. And besides, I was trying to be conservative: this was only Day Zero of our Mammoth Trip. I needed to conserve energy and not injure myself. My time? 1:25:02 - 1 minute 16 slower than my PR. -F
