Two cyclists. The Bavarian on the left had been on the road for two and a half months, having begun his journey in New York,
heading for California.
The cyclist on the right began his trip at home in Oklahoma two weeks ago. I offered to perform any quick repairs and adjustments they needed, but they said they were doing fine. We would see them a couple more times at stops up the road. We did not address them again. Whenever we saw them, people were interrogating them about their trip. Surely they had developed a routine of responses by now. I forgot to ask their names. |
