Williams, Az
October 20, 2008

Ah, finally clean laundry and a bit of a rest! I walk around a bit, but didn't have the camera ready for the kid on a skateboard with the Che Guevara t-shirt.

We'd have done better staying in Flagstaff, which seemed to me a very nice town. We had wanted to be closer to the Canyon, but in Williams there seemed to be a single vegetarian meal (which was decent enough, but not good enough for three days running), at a single restaurant of the very few that was open in this season. So we made the extra drive to Flagstaff both nights anyway, where we had excellent food at Mountain Oasis: a Middle Eastern platter of hummus, tabouli, falafel, dolmas and pita, would you believe.

Alas, we'd chosen a hotel in Williams of screaming kids and two cereal dispensers in the lobby which served alibis for breakfast, without tables - the only hotel in town that had still had rooms when it was time to make reservations. Thankfully, it had a good wireless internet connection.
