Soviet Memorial of Honor in Treptower Park (11)

At the end of World War II, a competition for the design of the Park and Memorial was announced. Out of 33 candidates, architect Jakow S. Belopolski, sculptor Jewgeni Wutschetitsch, painter Alexander A. Gorpenko and engineer Sarra S. Walerius were chosen. The complex replaced a sports field on the site, and was completed in 1949.
