. . . was the hedge. And the grapefruit tree, and assorted overgrown shrubbery. To the left, the apple tree in bud.

3rd: The back yard, looking east. Scraggly, untended roses, a brick pathway to nowhere, and artfully placed slabs of concrete. The previous owner added cypress trees and piles of pottery shards for the "Little Pompeii" look.
