Mammoth Trip, 2019

September 18

Red Peak

Bill warns over the radio not to approach the ridge because of hurrcane force winds. Stella and I stay a bit below the ridgeline and attack the peak from its flank.
It is hard to remain standing as the wind at my back pushes me up the hill, indeed it knocks me over several times. Knowing that it will be at its fiercest directly on the summit, I veer off just a few meters below.
Stella, too, is struggling as she approaches me, and on my suggestion also turns and heads back down. We were close enough to consider the peak bagged. -F

Finally out of the scratchy, thorny brush. Oh goody--klinker and a gale. -S
