Rather than escalating to something harder on our second day at altitude, we all felt a non-technical hike through a pretty landscape was in order. The AQI numbers didn't look great around Mammoth so it seemed advisable to venture farther afield.
When Bill put this hike on the table, we instantly agreed. The hike begins just outside of the Tioga Pass Yosemite National Park entrence and paralleled the road to Saddlebag Lake at a distance. While we have been in this area a number of times, we had not taken this route before. -F.
