Mammoth Trip, 2022

Carson Project

Stella had a mishap, too, on this hike. On the descent trail again, she stepped onto a downward sloped flat rock with loose dirt or sand on it, and her feet slipped out from under her without warning. She nearly did a back-flip before landing hard on her back, mostly just winded and bruised, and it took some minutes of sitting quietly to shake off the shock.

Bill witnessed it, I didn't. He told me what happened and tried to hold me back from rushing to her side. I slowed and took some care, but slipped on exactly the same rock, barely controlling my own fall. I emerged unhurt, but still worried about Stella.

It's new hiking boots time for both of us! -F.

I went ass over teakettle so fast I didn't know what happened. My boot soles were also worn, though not as badly as Frank's. -S.
