Ruby Ridge



We decided on Mt Starr. First and last time was in 2010! 13 years ago, when Stella and I had little experience yet climbing and scrambling. Then, Stella stayed back when things got more rocky; Bill and I continued and ran out the clock. Bill got to a wrong summit; I took another route up and found myself faced with a big gap to cross over an abyss, and I backed out.

Now we thought we'd give it another go, leaving ourselves the option of just going over Mono Pass and circling a couple of lakes instead if Starr seemed too much.

The phone rang on the eve, and it was Bill, wanting to hear what we were up to. He submitted another option: Ruby Ridge. I made a note of that, but I was still gunning for Mt Starr. -F
