He in fact drove quickly as far as Barstow, and thinking he'd done his share, handed off to Stella.
The more difficult part of the drive began, through construction sites and slower traffic.
But Stella drove relentlessly.. She floated the idea of driving all the way home tonight.
For Frank this was too abrupt an end to the trip, and he threatened that if she drove all the way,
she'd have to cook dinner tonight, he wasn't gonna. But she did drive all the way home, and solved the dinner problem with take-out from the Indian place in Willow Glen. Today's drive: 690 miles in 11 hours. Not spending a night in Bakersfield: Priceless. |
