Click here for Bill's photo blog - a more extensive photo selection and more complete, coherent narrative than mine.

Bill and I shared a common pool of photographs, to which Stella contributed as well. We each made our selection from the pool. There is some overlap, but we did not collaborate in determining who uses which captures. The pool consisted of raw image files, and we each developed the photographs independently.

Summary

This year we did a fair amount of scrambling, hiking and riding. Stella had just gotten over an illness, and Frank was still dealing with a bit of the same and didn't really feel good until the last two days; but we stuck to our program anyway. Even though it was a week later even than the year before, the weather was pleasantly warm and much too dry.

  • On Day One, Like last year, Stella, Bill and Frank test out conditioning with a second attempt on Lookout Peak. This time, no hailstorm, but alas, even despite a bit more planning we are again stymied.
  • On Day Two we have a fun climb up to the North Summit of Tuolumne Peak. Frank and Stella got half way up the South Summit as well.
  • On Day Three we turn an active rest day into a modest full fledged cycling program over Minaret Vista to Red's Meadow and back, and then add the Old Mammoth - Lake Mary loop. Rest Day Ride postponed for now.
  • On Day Four we do a cross country route finding tour from Saddlebag Lake to the Great Sierra Mine, a hike Bill has been wanting to do for some time. Excellent light later in the day!
  • On Day Five Bill and Frank actually do the Rest Day Ride. Stella doesn't trust us anymore, and stays back and strolls around town instead.
  • On Day Six we hike the Mammoth Crest Crescent counter clockwise this time.
  • On the Seventh Day God rests again, so we went home, just like last year.
