Sherwin Crest Attempts

Not feeling exactly confident, but neither in total terror, I set out to give it a try, just to get a feel. But there is a loose rock that I kick out of the way. I feel for handholds in the convex wall, and reach to set my foot on the next rock. But my foot alights on something loose that immediately sets me off balance ever so slightly, and the rock skittles down the steep embankment. In a controlled panic, I retreat: this is not a place to tolerate loose rocks!

It turns out that the loose rock I stepped on was the same loose rock I had just kicked aside. Bill even thought I had purposefully given it the second kick. But it's very hard to see exactly where you're putting your foot. -F

As Frank stepped along the tiny ledge, I (in total terror) was calculating how far down I'd go if I fell into the chute, and whether I could climb out. -S.
