Attempt on Volcanic Ridge
Bill reaches the chimney between heaven and hell. Both Stella and Bill decide it's better to turn back. I'm easily persuaded, though I feel tempted to have a go at it. But there's a point where it's better to turn back, and there's no point continuing unless everyone is in. Likely I would not have gotten further than Bill got.
Just a minute earlier, Bill had dislodged a basketball size rock that bounded down the mountain past me. -F.
