Plants and Critters

Gabi met us as we pulled into a spot next to the house. We were early, and our unit wasn't quite ready yet. But first thing, he gave us a tour of the grounds, introducing us to the plants and making us feel comfortable. John brought us cocos to drink at the salt water pool, and then led us into the jungle to harvest bananas. -F.



To harvest bananas, you chop down the whole "tree." The small, straight, yellow bananas were both firm and creamy, with a special tang I've never tasted before. They were to common bananas as wine is to grape juice. -S.
