We left Long Beach late in the morning. After a few lurches while Stella tried to recall her manual-shifting skills,
we headed through Nassau, Queens, over the Verrazano, and into New Jersey, thence around Philadelphia and onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Up and down rolling hills we drove, through tunnel after tunnel, until we found ourselves tired and hungry 380 miles later in Greensburg, PA. We turned in and excitedly awaited the morning. |
