In the most heavily populated areas worst hit by famine and drought, particularly
Chaco Canyon, communities disintegrated
and migrated to new areas, including here. While there has been no evidence found for large scale fighting, the cliff dwellings were easily defensible by few individuals, as access was difficult and required passage through one of few bottlenecks. |
