Mammoth Trip, 2018

September 16

Lookout Peak

The main chute is not quite as steep, but one still cannot stand up, but slide down on one's butt. The rocks are still loose, but bigger, and we fear undermining something behind us as lots of material cascades downward between our legs. A little higher up the wall, the rocks are firmer and less prone to slide, but much more dangerous if they did slide. -F.

Sliding on my butt down sand, accumulating rocks between my legs, trying to control my speed and stopping when the stream got a little fast. I knew that if a big rock started to fall above me, it would be dangerous. I couldn't believe we were doing this.
